Copyright and Likeness Policy
Effective date: October 24, 2026
Vellm is operated by Oakrelay Labs LLC ("Vellm", "we", "us"). We respect the rights of creators, rights holders and the people who appear in videos. This page explains how to ask us to remove material on Vellm that you believe infringes your copyright or uses your likeness without permission, and how we handle those requests.
What this policy covers
It covers everything Vellm publishes or stores: template previews and example clips on our pages, including original clips by third-party creators shown with credit; template covers and other images; videos generated by our users; and photos and videos users upload.
How to send a copyright notice
Email our copyright agent at copyright@vellm.app with the subject line "Copyright notice". Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)), a notice must include:
- a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of a person authorized to act on their behalf;
- identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed or, if several works are covered by one notice, a representative list of them;
- identification of the material you believe is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, such as the full URL of each page or file;
- your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Likeness and creator removal requests
You do not need a copyright claim to ask us to remove a clip. If you appear in a template preview or example on Vellm, or you made the original clip it comes from, email copyright@vellm.app with the subject line "Removal request". Include the URL of the page, which clip you mean, and a way for us to confirm that you are the person shown or the creator, such as a message from the account that published the original.
When we confirm a request, we remove the clip from our public pages and stop using it as a template reference. We may take the template offline while we replace it.
What happens after we receive a notice
We aim to acknowledge a notice within two business days. If a notice is missing required information, we may ask you for it, and we may be unable to act until we have it.
When a notice is complete, we remove or disable access to the material identified. If the material was uploaded or generated by a user, we make reasonable efforts to tell that user and send them a copy of the notice, which includes your contact details.
Counter-notices
If you believe material you uploaded or generated was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to copyright@vellm.app. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3), it must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
- your name, postal address and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district of your address (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Vellm may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.
After a counter-notice
We send a copy of a complete counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice and tell them that we will restore the material in 10 business days. We restore it no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice, unless our copyright agent first receives notice that the person who sent the original notice has filed an action seeking a court order to restrain the alleged infringement.
Misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. Before you send a notice, consider whether the use may be permitted, for example as fair use. If you are unsure, you may wish to consult a lawyer.
Repeat infringers
In appropriate circumstances, we suspend or close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the rights of others, and we may remove their content.
